May 1st marks our 6th year anniversary! So first and foremost: THANK YOU! Thank you to everyone who submits their amazing creations to our releases each month and THANK YOU to all of you who come by month after month to see what these great artists create. So without further ado we have launched our 61st release for your enjoyment, featuring over 130 wonderful submissions and an interview with Sam Balcomb, the director of the Legend of Zelda Movie Trailer for IGN.

Again, thanks to everyone for visiting our site!!! Here’s to many more years! As always, keep submitting and spreading the word!

Trent is at it again, releasing another new (free) Nine Inch Nails song. Taylor C. Pemberton updates his site with a new look. Anthony sends word that his latest photo set “India” is now online for your viewing pleasure. This is a great blog of some amazing Photoshop Disasters, be sure to doublecheck your work! The folks at Smashing Magazine have a great collection of Video Photoshop Tutorials that are sure to inspire and give a helping hand. We went ahead and launched Release 60, partially. We didn’t launch yesterday as we were waiting on our newest interview and to be honest, still are. So instead of delaying longer we launched the issue section. 180+ wonderful submissions for your enjoyment! As soon as we get our answers, the new interview will be added right away. Time to empty the inbox again: Neil Duerden sends word that he’s updated his site with new commissioned, collaborative and motion work. Phirebase is a new site dedicated to graphic design and music in the Czech Republic. The gang over at Addictive Hobby have gave their forum a facelift and always looking for new artists to post. Wee Planets are an interesting collection of spherical panoramic photos by Alexandre Duret-Lutz. AOL of all sites have a great collection of Nature photos from 2007.

Hope for those of you who celebrate Easter, that it is going well and you’re enjoying your time with your families. But there is no rest for the weary and I’m going to try and shoot off a few quick links: Our friends over at Raster have another amazing chapter up with some amazing works. StartDrawing, the awesome Asian drawing portal, has received an updated look. Holger Pooten has some amazing photography to view, especially the “exploading gadgets”. Have an itch for more papercraft? Check out Speakerdog Paper Toys for a nice lineup to download and create. Quite the ambitious project, OneMillionDrawings aims to do just that, fill the site up with one million creations! Looking to spice up your vector creations? We have launched our third annual collection of the some of the best art on the internet. The 60 best works of art and photography found on Phirebrush during 2007 are featured here - each issue’s cover as well as four other submissions per issue. The additional selections were judged on a mix of views, comments, and overall feel. We hope you enjoy what you, the user and fan, were a part of in 2007. Enjoy and do spread the word!!!

New portfolio site up from Danish Photographer Anders Birger Schjorring is up. Chuck Gonzales illustrated a series of wordless books by Think It Ink It Publishing (via ispot). Corbis has their hands on some exclusive Readymech papercraft, get ‘em while they’re hot. Overshadowed is the home to photographer Keith Kin Yan, housing some amazing shots. The gang at Shift have their latest issue online. While you’re there you can read up on there logo competition, with a deadline of March 15th.

Twenty-six Types of Animals is a creative typography/illustration masterpiece. Longe sends word about a site update with new works, including a Nike + Footlocker campaign. Some images make you laugh and say, “Whoa” at the same time. Lost Dreams is the artwork of David De Lara, wonderful to say the least. Artist Avid Liongoren is back with another Project365, amazing!

Looking for some photographical inspiration? Why not check out this collection of 30 photographs sure to inspire. Don’t worry graphic junkies, there is also a nice set of 40 crazy photoshop created images.

Flavio’s site workaholic is brand new, check it. Also on the redesign front, the gang at iSpot have a new look as well. Designgraphik, a decade has come and gone. Urbancollective’s 66th issue: Disease is online. There is still time to hit the earlybird special for registering for the 2008 HOW Design Conference, so you better hurry! Andree Roy has some wonderful works for you to check out. The gang at GoMediaZine have some new tutorials and fonts up. Some interesting Alien Sculptures and digital art by Francesco Mai.

RIP: Polaroid

It appears Polaroid is calling it quits and killing off it’s film format. Photographs everywhere shed a tear. So if you’re still enjoying the instant gratification that these cameras offer, you better hunt down the film and keep a stash hidden. We’ll miss you Polaroid!

We’re not the only zine with a new release, check out these others: Shift, Evokeone, and UrbanCollective. Lyle Owerko has a very impressive portfolio of photographs. Speaking of Photography, Canon and Nikon have announced a slew of new cameras including the Canon XSi and Nikon D60, be sure to read up about them at DPReview. Sandro Rosa is an African based art director with a nice gallery of ad design. Adobe has just launched a web campaing called sonoquipermeritosuo: it a web site made by 100 free slots, where everyone can leave an audio-video message (thanks Stefano for the heads up). Josh sends word of his new Horror Book being available, check it out!
