Hey! Here are some bands / albums to get excited about this week (and search for Rapidshare links or torrents for — don’t pretend you don’t).

More than ten years ago the indie supergroup Free Kitten had a good run in college radio and the prevailing indie circuit at the time. The band was made up of Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, Pussy Galore’s Julie Cafritz, Boredom’s Yoshimi and Pavement’s Mark Ibold. This was a band that liked pulling the curtain over the status quo and fading to black — thematic eclecticism for the canvas shoe set.
Free Kitten have a new album coming out shortly; it’s called Inherit and follows the same decade-plus-old formula and sound: serrated guitar lines, sludgy come-ons and a healthy din.

West Coast hip-hop artist Flying Lotus garnered some attention late last year with the appearance of his Reset EP. Since then, he has gotten his sophomore full-length release Los Angeles prepped to drop. It sounds like something that’s on Warp records (which, by coincidental logic, it’s on) and a well-produced effort that is well in touch with the cosmos. Look out for it to drop in July.
